I am a firm believer of movement in the classroom.
Although we might sit at our desks or on the floor for the whole group lesson, I encourage kids to move around the room when they are working independently.
This could mean that they opt to stay at their desk, but I have built in a small group area with pillows and 'work buddies'. We have a small group table up front. There are free areas around the room where kids can take a work buddy and clipboard and I also invite kids to stand at counters in the back. This year we also have two stability balls for your kids to use. In addition to the work buddies, I have a bin of 'fidget toys' that your student may use during whole group instruction and independent work. We will review the classroom rules for these tools.
*Below you will find the rules for use of the stability balls
